Name: Ingrid Villanueva

Title: Owner, Penny's Size to Fit

Quote: NA

I was nominated for creating PPE supplies such as masks and doctors' gowns during the peak of the pandemic, as supplies were running low. I and my small team of 6 helped makeover 500 gowns and masks. We are proud of being able to serve the city and our community. I studied design in Colombia and graduated from college in 1990. I came in as an immigrant in 1999, but my career as a designer/seamstress in the U.S. began in 2006 when I started working for Penny's Size to Fit. I worked here for 10 years as an employee and became Penny's right-hand woman as time went by. In 2016, I bought the business from her, as she was retiring. I started updating the place and put an emphasis on social media that was never present here before. It has been a long journey; with long and hard days, but in the end, I'm very proud of my work and being able to serve the community that has been built over the years.
